Artist manager Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, is advocating for aid from the Ghana Football Association and the government for Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey.
According to the UK Metropolitan Police, the footballer is currently facing rape and sexual assault charges in the United Kingdom after an incident that happened between 2021 and 2022.
Bullgod is of the belief that Partey has served the nation well, especially by helping Ghana qualify for the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups, and deserves support during this difficult time.
“We are praying for him, and I believe the GFA and the government should help him. He is a Ghanaian who has made the country proud," Bullgod appealed on United Showbiz over the weekend.
However, the GFA and government are yet to respond to Bullgod's appeal, as the case is still being handled by the UK courts.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of Ghanaian international, Thomas Partey, has denied the charges of rape and sexual assault against her client.
The statement issued by Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, noted:
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name."
The lawyer noted that as legal proceedings are ongoing, her client will not make any further comment on the matter.
Partey is expected to appear at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5.
Partey spent five seasons at Arsenal after being signed in 2020 for £45m but is now a free agent after his contract expired on Monday.
In June, Thomas Partey once again won the Player of the Year award at the 2025 edition of the Ghana Football Awards.
He beat both Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth and Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams to bag the award. This marked the third time the Ghanaian international has won the award, with the first and second bagged in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
According to reports, Partey won the award for his exceptional contributions to Arsenal and the Black Stars.
