The Kumasi High Court has ruled in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), dismissing a petition filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the results of three parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region for the 2024 elections.
The NDC had challenged the outcomes in Ahafo Ano South-West, Obuasi East, and Ahafo Ano North constituencies, insisting that its candidates had secured legitimate victories despite official recounts and the swearing-in of NPP MPs.
Speaking on the ruling, counsel for the NPP Members of Parliament, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, explained that the NDC did not fulfill key legal requirements.
"The NDC petition was unanimously dismissed by two High Court judges, one from High Court 2 and another from High Court 6," Gyamfi stated.
He elaborated that the NDC failed to apply for the determination of security for costs within 21 days after the gazetting of election results, which is mandated by law.
“The court ruled that the NDC has no case, and the three NPP MPs will continue serving their constituencies in Parliament,” he added.
