The manager of Ghanaian highlife icon Dada Kweku Duah, affectionately known as Dada KD, has shed light on the painful circumstances leading to the death of the legend.
News of Dada KD's passing came on Friday, May 16, with reports of his suffering a short illness that claimed his life.
However, further revelations from his manager, Clarence Kenneth Ekow Peterson, known in showbiz circles as King Pee, suggest that Dada KD could have survived if he hadn't been turned away by three health facilities due to absent doctors.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM morning news, King Pee mentioned that the facility in which Dada KD lost his life was the fourth after attempts to seek medical care from the first three failed.
Although King Pee did not mention these hospitals, he noted that Dada KD was eventually admitted to a facility in Gbawe.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after a doctor attended to him upon arrival.
Asked whether the late musician suffered any sickness, King Pee noted that he complained of mild malaria symptoms earlier in the day but remained relatively stable.
His condition, however, worsened unexpectedly, prompting an urgent rush to nearby hospitals.
“We did everything we could. He was strong in the morning, but things changed so quickly. Sadly, he couldn’t survive,” King Pee told Baffour Owiredu Amoh.
Dada KD's untimely death comes just days before his scheduled trip to the UK to perform at the 'Celebrating Hiplife & Highlife Legends' event on May 25, at the Dominion Centre in London. The veteran musician is best known for timeless hits like Fatia Fata, Dada Tekyere Ma, Ene Menye, Wosuro a Wondi, and Honey Love. His legacy as a Highlife icon continues to inspire generations.
He is said to have died around 4:00 PM on Friday, May 16,while on oxygen support. He was 56.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed by medical authorities.Tributes have already begun pouring in from across the creative industry, with fans and fellow musicians expressing shock and grief over the sudden loss.
