Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a left adductor injury.
The 22-year-old picked up the injury after coming off the bench during Madrid’s 1-0 LaLiga win over Getafe on Wednesday. He was forced to leave the pitch, leaving Madrid with 10 men.
Although the club hasn't confirmed how long he will be out, sources told ESPN that Camavinga is expected to miss Madrid's final five league matches and could be sidelined for over a month.
As a result, he will miss the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on Saturday and is now a doubt for the upcoming Club World Cup."Following tests carried out today on Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a complete tear of the tendon in his left abductor muscle.
His recovery will be assessed," the club said in a statement on Thursday.
After the match, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that it’s unlikely both Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba—who also picked up an injury—will be fit in time for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
Madrid are set to kick off their Club World Cup campaign on June 18 against Al Hilal. They will also face Liga MX side Pachuca and Austrian club RB Salzburg in the group stage.
Camavinga has made 35 appearances for Madrid this season, scoring two goals across all competitions.
Earlier in the season, he missed Madrid’s 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup due to a knee injury, and he also sat out part of the season with a hamstring issue.
