The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a massive fire explosion at a garage in Bogobiri, Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region, caused by welding activity.
Per reports, one life has been lost as a result and several others injured. The seven injured persons have been hospitalized in Obuasi and Kumasi.
According to officials, the incident occurred during welding work, which triggered the explosion and led to a raging fire. Firefighters are currently at the scene working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
The GNFS has advised residents and motorists to avoid the affected area for their safety and use alternative routes.
Overhaul operations are currently underway to extinguish any remaining pockets of fire within the affected five (5) structures made up of 3 metal containers and 2 sandcrete buildings.
