The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 inter-regional and inter/intra district reposting process for teaching and non-teaching staff.
The move forms part of the Service’s annual exercise to allow staff who wish to transfer from one region or district to another to do so in accordance with GES guidelines.
According to a statement released by the Service on their facebook page,, the issuance of assurance letters will begin from Friday, 2nd May to Monday, 2nd June 2025. All completed applications from the Regional Offices are expected to be submitted to the GES Headquarters by Tuesday, 3rd June 2025.
Processing of all inter-regional reposting applications at the Headquarters will commence on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, with the effective transfer date set for September 2025, at the start of the new academic year.
The Service stressed that staff members seeking reposting can only be released after receiving an official reposting letter signed and approved by the Director-General. It also cautioned that any documents received after the deadline will not be considered.
For intra-district reposting, applicants are required to write to their respective Metro, Municipal, or District Directors, indicating their intention to move from their current school to another within the same district.
The application must be supported with a payslip, personal records form, certificates, bank clearance, and other relevant documents. Final approval for such repostings lies with the Metro/Municipal/District Director.
GES has urged all staff seeking reposting to follow the outlined procedures and direct any concerns or inquiries to their respective district or regional offices for assistance.
The reposting process is aimed at ensuring efficiency and equitable distribution of staff across the education sector while responding to the needs and preferences of teachers and other personnel.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) routinely opens reposting windows to allow staff transfers between districts and regions.
This initiative helps redistribute human resources to underserved areas and accommodates personal and professional requests of staff.
Over the years, the reposting process has become a vital part of managing Ghana's educational workforce, ensuring that schools across the country are adequately staffed to meet growing enrollment and changing needs.
The reposting policy also aligns with efforts to improve teacher satisfaction, accessibility, and retention, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
