Ghana and Algeria have taken a significant step toward enhancing their diplomatic relationship by reaching a visa waiver agreement.
This development was part of a high-level visit to Algiers by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The agreement was sealed after deliberations with Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, with both parties expressing a strong desire to broaden cooperation between the two nations.
As part of the renewed collaboration, Algeria committed to increasing educational opportunities for Ghanaian students, especially in advanced disciplines like robotics, artificial intelligence, and engineering.
In addition to the education push, both countries outlined plans to set up a direct air route between their capitals, strengthen collaboration in the oil and gas sector, and enhance their joint approach to security and intelligence matters.
They also agreed to revive the dormant Joint Economic Cooperation framework to boost trade and development.
This visit served not only to affirm the historic solidarity between Ghana and Algeria but also to chart a new course for a multifaceted partnership rooted in mutual growth and strategic cooperation.
