The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has implemented a significant reshuffling of its senior leadership, affecting various Programme Managers and Deputy Directors across the country.
The changes, which will take effect on May 19, are part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen leadership and improve service delivery within the health sector.
The reshuffle was confirmed in a notice signed by the acting Director-General of GHS, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea. In the communication, he outlined the necessity of these reassignments to ensure the continued effectiveness and responsiveness of the health service in meeting the demands of the population.
As part of the transition, the notice instructed officials to ensure the smooth handover of responsibilities.
“You are therefore requested to supervise the proper handing over and release the Managers and Deputy Directors concerned to their new stations by the given date and communicate dates of assumption of duty to this office,” it stated.
The reshuffle will affect 13 senior officials, including regional directors, programme managers, and medical superintendents.
The full list of those affected by the changes was included in the official notice, but individual details have yet to be publicly disclosed.
This move by the GHS signals a continued commitment to enhancing leadership within the health service.
The restructuring aligns with the broader goal of improving service delivery across the country, addressing critical challenges faced by the health system, and ensuring greater efficiency at all levels of the organization.
