The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has inaugurated a new governing board for the National Youth Authority (NYA), appointing Julian M. Cobbinah as Chairman.
The ceremony, held on Tuesday, May 6, at the Ministry’s headquarters, marked the official start of the board’s mandate to drive youth-focused initiatives nationwide.
Following the event, Youth, Employment and Development Minister George Opare Addo shared his thoughts in a Facebook post, applauding the new board members and expressing optimism about their leadership.
“Congratulations to the newly formed Board of the National Youth Authority, chaired by Julian M. Cobbinah. The board was sworn in during a brief ceremony earlier today at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment,” he stated.
The Minister emphasized the critical role the board is expected to play in youth empowerment, encouraging members to commit fully to their responsibilities.
“I urged the board members to fully commit to their mandate and ensure that the youth of our nation are empowered to reach their full potential. I have no doubt that they will succeed and carry out their duties with the utmost dedication. #YouthPower,” he added.
Julian M. Cobbinah, in response to his appointment, also took to Facebook to express his appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for their confidence in him.
“Honoured to be sworn in today as Chairperson of the Governing Board of the National Youth Authority. Grateful to H.E. President John Mahama for his trust, and to Hon. George Opare Addo for his support. With CEO Osman Ayariga and team, we aim to make this historic, transformative, and a true social and economic accelerator for Ghana’s youth!” he said.
The new board is tasked with overseeing the NYA’s efforts to create opportunities for young people and position them as active contributors to national development.
