A former NPP presidential hopeful and one-time General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has said goodbye to his mother, Comfort Agyepong.
Known by many as Adwoa Badu, Madam Comfort was the wife of the late Supreme Court judge, Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong, who was tragically kidnapped and killed along with two other judges on June 30, 1982.
After her husband's death, she took on the responsibility of raising their four children—Yaw, Kwaku, Kofi, and Lucy—as well as his other children—Joyce, Stella, Kwabena, Kofi, and Georgina. She managed to support them all through school, up to the university level, with the proceeds from her secondhand clothing business, popularly known as Obroni Wawu.
She passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 82.
Her funeral was held on April 24, 2025, at the forecourt of the State House. Many people showed up to pay their last respects—family members, friends, sympathisers, and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Tributes poured in from her children, grandchildren, in-laws, church groups, and other loved ones. Her children praised her as a strong, faith-filled woman who stood tall through life’s challenges.
The ceremony included hymns, a sermon, and a viewing of the body before she was laid to rest in a private burial.
