Manchester City have received a major boost as key midfielder Rodri has returned to full training ahead of the final stretch of the 2024/25 season.
The Spanish international had been out of action since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in a match against Arsenal back in September 2024. This week, however, Rodri was seen training with the rest of the squad, raising hopes of a late-season comeback.
His return comes at a crucial point for City, who are pushing to end the season on a high in both domestic and European competitions.
The team has noticeably struggled in midfield during his absence, missing Rodri’s intelligence, control, and defensive stability.
Manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly optimistic that Rodri could feature in at least one of the remaining fixtures this season.
The club is also aiming for him to be fully fit for the summer, as City are set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rodri has been a vital part of Manchester City’s recent success, and his return could help restore much-needed balance and leadership to the team. While this season may not have lived up to City’s usual standards, Rodri’s comeback brings renewed hope for a strong finish and momentum heading into next season.
