A mobile money vendor was gunned down on the evening of Monday, April 28, during a robbery at Gbagblakope, a community near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao, Volta Region.
The victim, Christopher Ahordo popularly known as Colombo was reportedly attacked by two armed individuals while closing his shop. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m.
She noted that Colombo had remained at work past his regular closing time of 5:00 p.m., though it was unclear why.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects wore long robes, had their faces concealed, and carried pump-action guns.
They approached Colombo just as he was shutting down and took away a bag believed to be filled with cash.
As they fled, one of the robbers shot Colombo in the chest. He died instantly.
Witnesses said they couldn’t assist the victim due to the gunfire being discharged randomly by the robbers as they escaped into a nearby bush.
“Residents retrieved the body and conveyed it to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital mortuary,” Sylvia reported.
The incident has been formally reported to the municipal police, who have begun investigations.
Attacks on mobile money agents have become a growing concern in Ghana, with numerous deadly incidents already recorded this year — particularly in the Ashanti Region.
