Political expert, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for planning a "Thank You Tour" following their significant loss in the 2024 general elections.
In an interview on JoyNews' The Pulse on Wednesday, April 23, Dr. Amoako Baah questioned the timing of the tour, given the party's substantial defeat in both the presidential and parliamentary contests.
“What is going on is not good. When you lose this colossally, you don't go on a Thank You Tour. No, thank you for what? For not voting for me?
"Instead, you say, ‘Sorry, forgive me.’ That’s what you do in this instance — and it’s not just for the flagbearer; all the party people should be doing that,” he insisted.
Dr. Richard Amoako Baah's comments followed the official launch of the NPP’s "Thank You Tour" at the party's headquarters in Accra.
The tour, which will be spearheaded by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's candidate for the 2024 presidential race, is set to begin on Saturday, April 26. The party’s leadership will visit various regions to express gratitude to their supporters for their unwavering support.
Dr. Bawumia, who held the position of Vice President during the election period, suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, who is now the sitting President.
Additionally, the NPP lost numerous crucial parliamentary seats, diminishing its presence in the legislative body.
