The Education Committee of Parliament is beginning a monitoring visit to select Senior High Schools (SHSs) and private universities in the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Western, and Central Regions today.
Phase one of this visit will take place from Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2, 2025.
The Committee will visit schools such as Chemu Senior High School, Accra Girls’ Senior High School, Achimota Senior High School, Wisconsin International University College, and Regent University College, among others.
In an interview with Citi News, the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee, Joseph Kwame Kumah, explained that the purpose of this visit is to evaluate the facilities, academic performance, and overall conditions at the selected institutions.
“We need this period to monitor the government’s projects at the institutional levels. So, we will be visiting secondary and technical schools; both public and private, and also some universities. It is just to find out how the system is running and the challenges the students are having.
“We are talking about the double-track system and its effect on the quality of education. So, while we are out, we will interact with both students and teachers to appreciate how our institutions are running,” he said.
