President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed Prof. Yayra Dzakadzie from his position as Director-General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), effective Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Although the decision has been confirmed, no official reason has been given for his removal from office.
Prof. Dzakadzie was appointed to the role on June 24, 2024, under the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in line with the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023).
Before his tenure at NaCCA, he held key leadership positions in Ghana’s education sector, including Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and Director for Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education.
Widely recognised for his expertise in educational assessment and policy, Prof. Dzakadzie had built a solid track record in research, statistical analysis, and teaching at various academic levels.
As of now, the Ministry of Education and the Presidency have not issued any statements clarifying the grounds for his dismissal.
