Ghanaian media personality and entertainment pundit Sally Mann has cautioned Afrobeat singer and 2024/2025 TGMA artiste of the Year, King Promise, to desist from picking up any "silent fight" with reggae and dancehall artist Stonebwoy or prepare himself for the collapse of his career. She advised King Promise to "know his lane and stay there" and ignore the advice of people trying to influence his "loverboy" personality to a 'street one', warning that any attempt to disrespect the 'street king', Stonebwoy, could cause the premature end of his career."King Promise, you are young. We saw you come up with your Mr. Loverboy vibes—licking your lips, playing with your flap, saying you like sexy girls—while our ladies drooled over you. But now, it seems the people around you, your entourage, are beginning to influence you, shifting you from being the darling boy to stepping out into the streets. Those around you, the ones influencing you to disrespect Stonebwoy by telling you that you’re a superstar and he’s not—take this advice from me, Sally Mann, Mamaga with the four eyes: your career will soon see its end if you try Bhim," she warned. She issued this caution during her Showtym show on Adom TV on Saturday, May 17, following King Promise's failure to respond to Stonebwoy's congratulatory message on X (formerly Twitter), which many interpreted as a sign of disrespect.King Promise also refused to comment on it when he was asked about it during an appearance on Hitz FM.
She went on to advise King Promise to stay true to his brand, emphasizing the dominance and superiority of Stonebwoy's brand over his and the need for him to respect that. She said, "Bortey! I'm calling your name. With a name like that, it’s expected that you should have some sense. Don't let anyone push you to believe you are in the same league with Stonebwoy because he has won an award that you craved for and lobbied to win.
"You are not a bigger superstar than Stonebwoy. So stay in your Loverboy lane and let Stonebwoy reign in the streets. You have no business competing in the reggae and dancehall genre—it has nothing to do with you as an Afrobeats singer," she added.
Sally Mann's word of caution has stirred up reactions, with netizens slamming and questioning her.
