Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have resumed emergency care following the intervention of a high-level delegation sent by the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.
Led by Zangbalun Lana Dr. Jacob Mahama, the team engaged members of the Doctors’ Association of Tamale Teaching Hospital (DATTH), delivering a direct and emotional appeal from the Yaa Naa to end their strike.
“We implore you to consider the lives that hang in the balance. The cessation of emergency services has far-reaching consequences, and we fear for the well-being of those who cannot afford to wait,” Dr. Mahama conveyed during the meeting.
He assured the doctors that the Yaa Naa is deeply committed to seeing their concerns addressed and emphasized the urgency of restoring essential medical services.
Just under two hours after the meeting, TTH announced that emergency care had resumed.
“The intervention of the King successfully got the doctors to resume emergency services,” the hospital stated in a Facebook post.
However, outpatient and specialist consultations are still on hold as negotiations between the doctors and hospital management continue.
