Businessman Gabriel Atokple Kwamigah Tanko has emerged victorious as representative of the Volta Region on the Council of State.
He won 24 out of 36 votes in the election held on February 11, 2025, at the OLA Senior High School Assembly Hall.
The election started with 13 candidates, but Mr. Tanko came out on top with a strong win.
Voting began at 9:50 AM after some initial disagreements, and by the end, he secured his place as the region’s representative on the Council.
After winning, Mr. Tanko promised to work on using the Volta Region’s resources to boost its development.
However, some of the other candidates have accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of influencing the delegates' votes.
