Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has backed some fans who believe the club should have won a trophy under Mikel Arteta following the team's growing form and performance.
However, he insists that he is not disappointed with the club's growth in recent years.
He acknowledged the challenges a new manager encounters in his early days until he has "time" to implement all his plans.
"I'm not saying that I'm disappointed with Arsenal, but, normally, people are raising questions now about what the team is doing," Henry told the Stick to Football podcast.
"It takes time, and you have to give a manager time to be able to implement what he wants to do. For the last three years, Arsenal have been in a situation where they should have at least brought home one cup or [reached] a final," Henry said.
Referring to 'struggling' Man Utd, he drew some comparisons between the two teams, saying that despite their performances over the years, which Arsenal have been better, they have still managed to reach and win multiple finals in recent years
"Manchester United have played in five finals in the last five years, the United that everyone laughs at, whereas for Arsenal in the last three years of building, they've not reached a final."So I do understand when people ask the question, 'Surely you should compete for a trophy?'" he quizzed.
For three consecutive seasons, Arsenal have finished as runner-up in the Premier League for three straight seasons, even when they won 89 points in 2023-24 -- a fact that Arteta has been eager to point out when asked about the club's lack of silverware.
In addition, they also reached the semifinals of the Carabao Cup and Champions League this season -- their deepest run in the European competition since 2009 -- only to be knocked out of both.
These 'disappointing' runs have stirred mixed reactions from fans, with many expressing frustration over and questioning why the team has not secured a trophy during this period.
In a related development, Mikel Arteta congratulated Tottenham Hotspur for winning the Europa League but emphasised that success is not solely defined by trophies.
