The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has officially launched the 2025 edition of the National Heritage Photo Competition.
This nationwide contest invites entries from all 16 regions of Ghana, aiming to highlight the country’s rich and diverse cultural heritage through photography.
Tourism Minister Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, speaking at the launch, explained that the competition is designed to promote Ghana’s cultural identity while giving young creatives a platform to express themselves.
She said the contest will not only spotlight Ghana’s traditional landmarks, culture, and tourist attractions across various districts, but also encourage a deeper sense of national pride and unity.
“We are not only promoting our rich cultural heritage, but providing opportunities for young Ghanaians to showcase their creativity,” she stated.
Madam Gomashie added that participants must be 25 years or younger and that eligible photo entries can include images of cultural heritage sites, traditional clothing, and local cuisine.
Organized in partnership with UNESCO, the competition is supported by several institutions including the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, National Commission for Culture, Bureau of Ghana Languages, National Theatre of Ghana, National Film Authority, and the Ghana Tourism Development Authority.
Other supporting bodies are the Pan African Writers Association, Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute, Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Creative Arts Agency, and the W.E.B Du Bois Centre.
Interested participants must submit their entries to heritagesites@motac.gov.gh by Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
