Afrobeats sensation Davido has opened up about how the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi, followed by the birth of his twins, has transformed him both emotionally and spiritually.
In a heartfelt conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the singer—born David Adeleke—spoke candidly about the pain of losing his first child with wife Chioma in 2022, describing it as “the darkest time of my life.”
The loss forced Davido to take a step back from the spotlight to grieve and reflect. But just a year later, in October 2023, the couple was blessed with twins—a boy and a girl—an experience Davido says has brought a new sense of healing and purpose.
“To come back from that and be blessed with twins… it just shows God is real,” he said.
What struck Davido and his wife the most was the uncanny resemblance between one of the twins and their late son, Ifeanyi. “The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him,” Davido shared. “We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”
The experience, he revealed, has changed him in profound ways. “It made me more humble, more compassionate,” he said, adding that he’s now more intentional about family, life, and the message he carries through his music.
For Davido, the journey from heartbreak to hope has deepened his gratitude and faith. And through it all, he continues to inspire fans not just with his music, but with his story of resilience, love, and renewed purpose.
