Kumawood actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has taken a swipe at television stations in Ghana for choosing to invest in foreign telenovelas while pirating African films, including his own.
In a video posted on his social media pages on April 29, 2025, LilWin expressed his disappointment over the continuous unauthorised airing of both Ghanaian and Nigerian movies by some TV stations. He criticised broadcasters for ignoring local content creators, opting instead to illegally download and air African films from YouTube.
“I don’t understand how these stations can afford to pay for telenovelas yet choose to download Nigerian films for free and air them,” he said angrily.
LilWin issued a stern warning to those airing his productions without permission, stating that such actions would not go unpunished. He revealed that he is ready to pursue legal action and hinted at taking matters into his own hands if the legal process delays.
“The amount of money I’ll claim when I take legal action… And if the case delays, I’ll deal with it in a way you won’t see coming,” he cautioned.
