Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has joined Italian Serie A side Atalanta in a four-year deal.
The Serie A side announced his signing in a statement on their website and social media platforms.
The statement read, "Atalanta BC is pleased to announce that it has acquired the sporting rights of Ghanaian footballer Kamaldeen Sulemana.” “The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and the entire Nerazzurri Club extend a warm welcome to Kamaldeen, wishing him all the best in the Nerazzurri shirt – personally and with the team.”
Kamaldee, in response to this, pledged to give his best to the club.
“I just had a tour at the training centre and I can say it’s a big facility, a lot of stuff to do here, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“I’m very happy to start my new adventure here. So far, I like everything I see. I will give all my best to the club,” he said.
He also went on to express his gratitude to the club and fans for their warm reception.
“I am very happy to be here, and I’m proud. Thank you to Atalanta fans and the club for welcoming me. It’s a real privilege. Forza Atalanta.”
The 23-year-old joined Atalanta following his contract termination with English Championship side Southampton on Wednesday, July 2, after his over 2-year stint with the club.
He signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, which was set to run until June 30, 2027 however, the Atalanta move truncated it.
Kamaldeen made 74 appearances across all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists.
The Ghana international endured a challenging stint in England, with recurring injuries affecting his form. He managed two goals and three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions during the 2024/25 season, as Southampton suffered relegation.
Now reunited with coach Ivan Juric, whom he previously worked with at Stade Rennais, Sulemana will be aiming to rediscover his best form and make a strong impression in Serie A.
