Record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco has revealed that he occasionally forgets the songs he has made due to the number of tracks he has churned out over the past sixteen years.
According to him, Shazam (an app that can identify songs from ambient audio) has become one way he recognizes the songs he has produced.
But before that, he barely remembers every song he has produced.
“Sometimes I am in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Oh, my god, this song’s so good.” And I Shazam it, and then it’s my own song,” he said in a recent appearance on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast.
He explained that he has been doing music for the past 16 years, hence the tendency to forget some of what he has produced.
“I’m old and I can’t remember anything,” the 37-year-old said. “I’ve done, like hundreds of songs that have come out.”
Benny Blanco defended himself in the shocked face of the podcast host, Jake Shane, by asking him if he remembers every word he has mentioned in his podcast since it commenced.
“Let’s say you’re on your 16th season of your podcast and someone’s like, ‘Did you interview Chelsea Handler?’ And you’re like, ‘I think so?’” Blanco said.
Benny Blanco is a hit-making record producer and the uber producer who has worked with everyone from Britney Spears to his fiancée, Selena Gomez.
He has played a behind-the-scenes role in shaping modern pop music.
He has worked with music legends and global stars such as Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.
Songs like “Love Yourself,” “Diamonds,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Eastside” are just a few examples of his signature touch.
His ability to blend catchy melodies with emotional depth has made him a go-to collaborator for artists seeking both commercial and critical success.
